This is one of my Grandmother’s recipes. It’s so good :). Pound cake is great in so many ways… just plain, with icing, buttercream frosting, with a glaze, with fresh fruit or strawberries and whipped cream. It’s perfect for a Baked Alaska, which I will be posting next week :).

Bake it in loaf pans or a bundt or tube pan. ENJOY!!!

Directions:

Yield: One bundt cake

  1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add one of the eggs and blend together.
  3. Add the third cup of flour to the egg and sugar mixture and blend together.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and another egg. Blend together.
  5. Mix together the milk and water. Mix 1/2 of this liquid mixture and the final egg with the cake batter we’ve been making.
  6. In another bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour and baking powder. If you are using salted butter, omit the salt, otherwise add the salt and mix. Mix 1/2 of this dry mixture with the cake batter.
  7. Mix the remaining liquid ingredients until well blended.
  8. Mix the remaining dry ingredients until well blended.
  9. Lightly grease a bundt pan and dust with flour.
  10. Pour the cake batter into the bundt pan.
  11. Bake on the center rack at 350°F for 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours or until tooth pick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  12. After it is baked, remove from the pan onto a cooling rack. After it has cooled completely, add any frosting or glaze that you like.
