Another great recipe for Easter! Baked ham is an Easter tradition in my household and this is a really nice way to prepare it. But don’t stop at Easter, it’s great for any occasion and is delicious served hot or cold and sliced.

Directions:

Yield: One ham

  1. Fill a large stock pot with cold water. Place your ham roast into the stock pot. Make sure their is enough water in your stock pot to fully cover your ham.
  2. Bring the water to a boil. As soon as it reaches the boiling point, turn it down to a slow simmer. Cover and simmer your ham for 20 minutes per pound. Avoid boiling your ham! This will cause your ham to shrink and become tough.
  3. After the ham is done simmering, remove the ham from the water and place in a large, lightly greased casserole dish. Let the ham rest for about 20 minutes. If the ham has skin, remove it at this point.
  4. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and ground cloves. Pat this mixture on to the top of the ham, and do your best to stick this mixture to the outside of the ham.
  5. Place the ham into a pre-heated 350°F oven on the center rack for about 30 minutes. This will melt the brown sugar mixer, causing it to run down over the ham.
  6. While the ham is cooking, prepare the remainder of the sauce. In a medium saucepan, mix the pineapple, marmalade and maple syrup; heat through.
  7. Remove the ham from the oven and spoon the sauce mixture over top of the ham.
  8. Put the ham back in the oven for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. While it is cooking, occasionally baste the ham with the sauce.
  9. After it has cooked, place the ham on a cutting board and allow it to rest for at least 30 minutes. This will make the ham much easier to slice.
  10. Mix together corn starch and 1 tbsp of water.
  11. While the ham is resting, take the remainder of the sauce from the casserole dish and place in a medium saucepan. Bring the sauce to a boil and mix in the corn starch mixture. Stir the mixture until it starts to thicken. This will make a nice topping to drizzle over the ham and serve.

Enjoy and have a Happy Easter!
