They freeze well and are always a welcome addition at any gathering or event. This is a recipe that has withstood the test of time.<!--more--> I can remember my Great Grandmother making these when I was a child and here it is, four generations later and I am still making them and sharing the recipe with future generations.<\/p>\n<h2>Directions:<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"yield\">Yield: One 9&#8243; x 12&#8243; pan<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a saucepan, combine dates and water. Bring to a boil, simmer, stirring constantly, until the consistency of jam is reached.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat. Stir in Vanilla and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a bowl, combine, flour, oats, brown sugar, salt and baking soda.<\/li>\n<li>Add melted Butter or margarine. Mix until combined.<\/li>\n<li>Press 2\/3 of mixture in the bottom of a 9\u201dx12\u201d baking pan, lined with parchment paper.<\/li>\n<li>Top with date mixture. Spread evenly.<\/li>\n<li>Top with remaining crumb mixture and bake in preheated 350&deg;F oven for approx. 20 minutes or until golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Cool completely, remove from pan and cut into desired size squares or bars. Enjoy!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<h2>Ingredients (Filling):<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"ingredients-list\">\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">One 500g Package of Pitted Dried Dates<\/li>\n<li>1 and 1\/2 cup of Water<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">2 tsps of Vanilla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Ingredients (Crust):<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"ingredients-list\">\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">1 and 1\/4 cup of Melted Butter or Margarine<\/li>\n<li>1 and 1\/2 cups of Brown Sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">2 cups of All-purpose Flour<\/li>\n<li>2 and 1\/2 cups of Rolled Oats<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">1 tsp of Baking Soda<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp of Salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"related-video\">\n<div class=\"video\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"video-border\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EfA-nauh0eA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are very easy to make.
