My husband, our kids and my dad really love it.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>When making this cake, you can use the small baking gums (less work, but quite costly) or you can do what I do and buy the big bags of regular gumdrops (sugar coated or plain) and cut them up. I usually double up the recipe and make two loaves at a time. They keep really well in the freezer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"candra-note\">Candra&#8217;s Notes:<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s best to avoid using the black (licorice flavoured) and the pink (peppermint flavored) in your cake because the flavors are too strong and overpowering.<\/p>\n<h2>Directions:<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"yield\">Yield: One large 9&#8243; loaf<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Mix flour, salt, baking powder, raisins and gumdrops together in a large bowl and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>In a medium mixing bowl cream the margarine or butter while adding sugar and beaten eggs.<\/li>\n<li>Add vanilla to milk.<\/li>\n<li>Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk, making three dry and two liquid additions.<\/li>\n<li>Bake in prepared loaf pan (lightly greased and floured) in a slow oven 300&deg;F for approx. 1 and 1\/2 hours or until golden in color and toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.<\/li>\n<li>Let cool five minutes, carefully remove from loaf pans and let the gumdrop cake cool on wire rack.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ingredients\">\n<h2>Ingredients:<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"ingredients-list\">\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">1\/2 cup of Margarine or Butter, softened to room temperature<\/li>\n<li>1 cup of White Sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">2 large Eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. of Vanilla<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">2 and 1\/4 cups of All-purpose Flour<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp. of Baking Powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">1\/4 tsp. of Salt<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cups of Raisins<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredients-list-alt\">1 pound  of Gumdrops, chopped<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 cups of Milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"related-video\">\n<div class=\"video\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"video-border\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hQPYwYEawHg\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I used to only make this at Christmas time, but find myself making it several times a year now.
