It&#8217;s delicious served over patty shells, biscuits or toast. You can serve it for a crowd in a large casserole dish and top it with baked puff pastry or biscuits<!--more-->, making it a great addition to any pot luck or gathering.<\/p>\n<h2>Directions:<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"yield\">Yield: 6 servings<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt 2 tbsps of butter in frying pan. Saut\u00e9 mushrooms and peppers just until tender. Remove from heat and set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Melt remaining 2 tbsps of butter in a large saucepan. Blend in flour, salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Gradually stir in milk, chicken broth and nutmeg.<\/li>\n<li>Stir over medium heat until smooth and thickened.<\/li>\n<li>Add cooked peppers, mushrooms and diced chicken.<\/li>\n<li>Heat through and serve over patty shells, biscuits or toast.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I love Chicken a la King over top of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookingwithcandra.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/27\/how-to-make-patty-shells\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"How to Make Patty Shells\">patty shells<\/a> we made last week.
