Chicken a la king is a very easy recipe. It’s delicious served over patty shells, biscuits or toast. You can serve it for a crowd in a large casserole dish and top it with baked puff pastry or biscuits, making it a great addition to any pot luck or gathering.
Directions:
Yield: 6 servings
- Melt 2 tbsps of butter in frying pan. Sauté mushrooms and peppers just until tender. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Melt remaining 2 tbsps of butter in a large saucepan. Blend in flour, salt and pepper.
- Gradually stir in milk, chicken broth and nutmeg.
- Stir over medium heat until smooth and thickened.
- Add cooked peppers, mushrooms and diced chicken.
- Heat through and serve over patty shells, biscuits or toast.

- 1/4 cup of All-purpose Flour
- 1/8 tsp of Ground Nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp of Salt
- 1/4 tsp of Pepper
- 4 tbsps of Butter or Margarine
- 1 cup of Milk
- 1 cup of Chicken Broth
- 3 cups of Cooked Diced Chicken
- 1 small of Green Pepper, diced (1/2 Cup)
- 8 ounces of Sliced Fresh Mushrooms
