Chicken a la king is a very easy recipe. It’s delicious served over patty shells, biscuits or toast. You can serve it for a crowd in a large casserole dish and top it with baked puff pastry or biscuits, making it a great addition to any pot luck or gathering.

Directions:

Yield: 6 servings

  1. Melt 2 tbsps of butter in frying pan. Sauté mushrooms and peppers just until tender. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Melt remaining 2 tbsps of butter in a large saucepan. Blend in flour, salt and pepper.
  3. Gradually stir in milk, chicken broth and nutmeg.
  4. Stir over medium heat until smooth and thickened.
  5. Add cooked peppers, mushrooms and diced chicken.
  6. Heat through and serve over patty shells, biscuits or toast.

I love Chicken a la King over top of the patty shells we made last week. Enjoy!
