This is a decadent twist on your regular cheesecake. Combining the best parts of your typical layered black forest cake and rich creamy cheesecake, this cake is absolutely delicious. The videos below will help a lot. In part one of the black forest cheesecake recipe video, I take you through the mixing and preparation of the cake and cooking instructions. In part 2, we take our cheesecake to the next level by decorating it. Not only will it taste great, but it will look fabulous as well!

Directions (Graham Crust):

Yield: Crust for one 9″ cheesecake

  1. Mix together in a bowl all of the crust ingredients and press on the bottom and up the sides (about 1 inch) of a 8 or 9 inch round spring-form pan and set aside.

Directions (Filling):

Yield: Filling for one 9″ cheesecake

  1. Blend sugar and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add the cocoa and mix until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and blend.
  4. Add sour cream and vanilla and blend.
  5. Cut up the entire jar of cherries, except for four (these will be used for decorating later). Stir the cut cherries into the batter.
  6. Spread the batter over graham crust.
  7. Bake in preheated 325°F oven on center rack for approx. 1 hour or until tooth pick inserted in center comes out clean.

  • 1 and 1/3 cups of Graham Wafer Crumbs
  • 1/3 cup of Melted Butter or Margarine
  • 2 tbsps of Sugar

Ingredients (Filling):

  • 3 x 250g Packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup of Sugar
  • 3/4 cup of Cocoa, sifted
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 3/4 cup of Sour Cream (or whipping cream or plain yogurt)
  • 1 tbsp of Vanilla
  • 375 ml jar of Maraschino Cherries (drained and chopped)

Ingredients (Whipped Cream Topping):

  • 500 mLs of Whipping Cream
  • 2 tbsps of Icing Sugar
  • a few drops of Vanilla
