This is a favorite treat around our house. I usually only make them on special occasions such as Christmas or Easter. They are quite a rich treat and not something one should eat everyday, not that we wouldn’t enjoy one of these everyday… LOL!

Directions (Bottom Crust):

Yield: One 8″ or 9″ square pan

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the following ingredients: 1/2 Cup of Butter or Margarine, 1 Large Egg, 1/4 Cup of Sugar, 1 teaspoon of Vanilla and 5 Tablespoons of Cocoa
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the following ingredients: 1 and 1/2 Cups of Graham Wafer Crumbs, 1 Cup of Coconut, 1 Cup of finely Chopped Nuts.
  4. Firmly press this mixture into the bottom of a buttered 8 or 9 inch square pan.
  5. Set pan in the refrigerator until chilled thoroughly.

Directions (Middle Layer):

Yield: One 8″ or 9″ square pan

  1. Cream all of the ingredients for the middle layer together until smooth and of relatively stiff
  2. Spread this butter cream mixture evenly over the first layer and refrigerate until chilled thoroughly.

Directions (Top Layer):

Yield: One 8″ or 9″ square pan

  1. Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips along with 1 tbsp of Butter or Margarine in a small saucepan over very low heat or in the microwave.
  2. Drizzle over middle layer and refrigerate until set.
  3. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Ingredients (Bottom Layer):

  • 1/2 cup of Butter or Margarine
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/4 cup of Sugar
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla
  • 5 tbsps of Cocoa
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of Graham Wafer Crumbs
  • 1 cup of Coconut
  • 1 cup of Finely Chopped Nuts

Ingredients (Middle Layer):

  • 2 cups of Icing Sugar
  • 1/4 cup of Butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 tbsp of Milk
  • 1/2 tsp of Vanilla

Ingredients (Top Layer):

  • 1 cup of Chocolate Chips
  • 1 tbsp of Butter or Margarine

    I think these are what we called “Naomi Bars” at my last job. We just used the chocolate and coconut base (with broken biscuits) with a chocolate topping. The recipe you present here looks much more appealing!

    Definitely to be eaten in moderation – so heavy going, but lovely!

    Thank you for sharing all these recipes and techniques. I’ll definitely be getting my hands dirty with them.
