Move over Reese’s! If you love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, you’ll love these squares. This is another one of my favorite recipes. It’s quick and easy. It freezes great and people of all ages really enjoy this treat. You can easily cut this recipe in half and make an 8 inch pan if you like. Make sure you watch the video clip demonstration.

Directions:

Yield: One 9″ x 12″ pan

  1. Melt butterscotch chips with peanut butter in a large dutch oven over low heat until smooth, stirring constantly (This mixture scorches easily if left unattended).
  2. Remove from heat and stir in cereal, mixing by hand until completely coated.
  3. Spread half of this mixture in a 9″ x 12″ pan which has been lined with parchment paper or greased with butter or margarine.
  4. Set remaining mixture a side.
  5. Melt margarine or butter over low heat in large saucepan.
  6. Add water and chocolate chips, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
  7. Stir in icing sugar and blend until smooth.
  8. Remove from heat and spread this mixture over the cereal mixture in the 9″ x 12″ pan.
  9. Top with remaining cereal mixture. Spread evenly over chocolate. Press down firmly with a spoon and smooth out entire mixture.
  10. Place in refrigerator until firm. Cut into squares and enjoy.

Personally I enjoy these squares right out of the freezer. Store them in airtight container or freezer bag in the freezer and snack on them at your leisure.

WARNING! These squares are addictive.
